Reindeer Thumbprint Ornaments

I found this cute idea for these Reindeer Thumbprint Ornaments on sassysites & thought they would be perfect to make for the Grandparents Christmas Tree's! I think they turned out so great. Super easy too! All we did was used Acriylic Paint for the Thumbprint & nose & a sharpie pen to draw on the antlers. I printed out vinyl for his name & year!

I generally don't take the time to sit down and read.. I'm usually multitasking and doing several things at a time.. But I was totally enthralled with this book! The way the Author describes the characters in great detail & sets the scene in amazing. I felt as if I was right there with them throughout the story! Here is a little bit about the Author: Clint G. Cox is a Plumber by trade that has severe Dyslexia. He is a motivational Speaker & has been featured on Disney Radio. Most of Christmas Notes was wrote on cut up two by fours and ripped up cardboard while he was on the job site..He was inspired to write the book when He was buried in paper work from the four businesses he owned back in 2009. When two weeks before Christmas his 8 year old daughter came up to him and said she was not that excited about the holiday. He knew it was his fault! He had not even taken the time to put up Christmas lights. That night the story line was formed for all three books. Christmas Notes has been ranked with Richard Paul Evens, and Glenn Becks' Christmas Books in the Deseret News this last week under new novels for the season.

My Christmas Quilt

I am so excited that I finished my Christmas Quilt! I Love that our Local Quilt Shop my girlfriends quilt shoppe does "Mystery Quilts! They send us home with 1 Block a week to do and also very easy to understand step by step instructions by Kimberbell designs. It's so nice that it is managble for Newbies like me ;) I have learned so much from doing these Fun Mystery Quilts!! I never though "I" the non-sewer could possibly put together something so fun!

My Christmas Pillow

I have went a little pillow crazy lately! I LOVE this Believe pillow I finished up yesterday! I used all scraps of fabric from previous projects.. Love it when you can make something for nothing! Homemade Applesauce

I love this Goose berry patch cookbook called Super-Fast Slow Cooking! So many great recipes. I have never made my own applesauce & I have to say it was scrumptious! This recipe made about 2 pint jars that I just stored in the fridge... But it didn't last long, it was quite a hit at our house.

Applesauce

3 Lbs. apples, cored, peeled and sliced
1/2 C. brown sugar, packed
1 t. cinnamon
1 1/2 T. lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cover & cook on high setting for 3 hours. Stir occasionally; mash with potato masher until desired consistency. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

I finished my First Quilt!! This Quilt is called Home is Where the Haunt is... We have this Awesome Quilt Shop in our town called "My Girlfriend's Quilt Shop". They always have the most Beautiful Quilts & Fabric. The Girls that work there are so friendly & helpful! I want to make everything in there!! I feel like I have learned soo much going to their classes & doing their Mystery Quilts. I can see this is going to be very addicting!

Yummy Peach Pie

I stumbled upon this recipe for this simple-peach-pie- & it is really good & easy!! My kind of dessert!

Ingredients

pastry for a double-crust 9-inch pie

5 cups fresh peaches, sliced
1 cup sugar
1/3-1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons sugar

Directions:

1Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. 2Stir together flour, 1 cup sugar, and cinnamon and set aside. 3Wash, peel, and slice fresh peaches. 4Mix together peaches with the combined dry ingredients. 5Turn into pastry-lined pie pan and dot with butter. 6Cover with top crust, cut slits in it, seal the edges. 7Sprinkle top with 2 tablespoons of sugar. 8Cover the edges with foil to prevent over browning; remove foil for the last 15 minutes of baking. 9Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until crust is brown and juice begins to bubble through the slits in the crust. 10Pie may be frozen for future use.

Homemade Laundry Soap

Say What?? Homemade Laundry Soap for only 1 Cent a load? and guess what it works quite nicely!! I'm feelin a little like Laura Ingalls LoL. I found this recipe through Pinterest. Here is the recipe on the duggarfamily website. I figured if this family of 20+ uses it, it must be working well. My only issue was finding enough containers to put it in.. 10 gallons = alot of soap ;)

4 Cups - hot tap water
1 Fels-Naptha soap bar
1 Cup - Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda*
½ Cup Borax

- Grate bar of soap and add to saucepan with water. Stir continually over medium-low heat until soap dissolves and is melted.

-Fill a 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Add melted soap, washing soda and Borax. Stir well until all powder is dissolved. Fill bucket to top with more hot water. Stir, cover and let sit overnight to thicken.

-Stir and fill a used, clean, laundry soap dispenser half full with soap and then fill rest of way with water. Shake before each use. (will gel)

-Optional: You can add 10-15 drops of essential oil per 2 gallons. Add once soap has cooled. Ideas: lavender, rosemary, tea tree oil.

-Yield: Liquid soap recipe makes 10 gallons.
-Top Load Machine- 5/8 Cup per load (Approx. 180 loads)
-Front Load Machines- ¼ Cup per load (Approx. 640 loads)
*Arm & Hammer "Super Washing Soda" - in some stores or may be purchased online here (at Meijer.com). Baking Soda will not work, nor will Arm & Hammer Detergent - It must be sodium carbonate!!

Whole Wheat Brown Sugar Banana Bread Pancakes

So I stumbled upon this recipe for Banana Bread Pancakes on Pinterest.com. Its from the website howsweeteats. We have made these several times over the last few weeks & they are so scrumptious!! I have never remembered to take a picture after we've made them so this photo belongs to howsweeteats and lets face it her pancakes are much prettier than mine anyway.. But so Yummy.. We haven't tried the Vanilla Maple Glaze yet but I'm sure it is just as good!

Whole Wheat Brown Sugar Banana Bread Pancakes

makes 12 pancakes

2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2/3 cup milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
3 large ripe bananas, mashed
2 tablespoons butter, melted

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Measure out the milk and add the vanilla extract to it. Whisk together the dry ingredients and add in milk and vanilla, stirring to combine. The mixture will still be dry. Add in mashed bananas and mix. Add in melted butter and stir until batter is somewhat smooth.

Heat a skillet or grilled on medium heat. Using a 1/3 cup measure, spoon batter into rounds and cook until bubbles form on top – about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for a minute or two more. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve hot with butter and syrup, or the vanilla maple glaze.

Note: if you don’t have/can’t find whole wheat pastry flour, use 1 cup of regular whole wheat and 1 cup of all purpose. Or 2 cups of all purpose.
Vanilla Maple Glaze
1/2 cup maple syrup
3/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir until smooth. Pour over pancakes.

Ham & Cheese Sliders

If you are looking for a YUMMY dinner idea that is super easy, this is it! I am not big on mustard but the sauce was just right! I found the recipe here: the-girl-who-ate-everything

Ham & Cheese Sliders

24 good white dinner rolls
24 pieces good honey ham
24 small slices Swiss cheese
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup miracle whip

Poppy seed sauce (you probably could half this...I had plenty extra)

1 T poppyseeds
1 1/2 T yellow mustard
1 stick butter, melted
1 T minced onion
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise and miracle whip. Spread onto both sides of the center of each roll. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss inside of each roll. Close rolls and place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet. Place very close together.

In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes. Serve warm.

** sandwiches can be assembled a day ahead and kept in the fridge ready to bake.

Andes Mint Chocolate Cupcakes!

Here is a recipe for Andes Mint Chocolate Cupcakes! Yum.. I totally forgot to take a picture untill my husband went to eat the last one. I promise they taste better than they look ;) I found the recipe at sugarmonkeysweets

Cupcakes

1 box of chocolate cake mix
Mix the ingredients as stated on the box (oil and eggs)
Add 1 cup of sour cream
Add 1 cup of sugar
Add 1 cup of flour
Generous dash of salt
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

Mix everything together and pour in a prepared cupcake pan. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes or the time stated on the box and depending on how your oven works. When the tops spring back when touched then you will know that the cupcakes are done. Take the cupcakes out and put them on a cooling rack to cool before icing.

Mint Frosting From strawberryswingandthings
Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) of unsalted butter, room temperature
6-8 cups of powdered sugar ( I think I only used 6 or 7)
1/4 cup of milk
3/4 tsp peppermint extract
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
6 drops of green food dye
2 drops of yellow food dye

Directions

1. In an electric mixer, beat the butter at medium speed until creamy. Beat in milk and then peppermint and vanilla extracts.
2. Slowly add in the powdered sugar on low speed, stopping every now and then to scrape down the sides of the bowl, until light and fluffy. Taste and add more mint extract if it isn't minty enough for you, or powdered sugar if it isn't sweet enough for you.
3. Finally, add food dye for "mint" green color.

Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

These Pink Lemonade Cupcakes are to die for ;) I have had several people ask me for the recipe so here goes.... Don't be alarmed... This is not my original recipe...lol I found the recipe on realmomkitchen

Cake:

•1 package white cake mix

•1 small package vanilla instant pudding

•3 Tbsp sweetened pink lemonade drink mix (like Country Time Pink Lemonade mix)

•1 cup sour cream

•2 tsp lemon zest

•3/4 cup water

•3/4 cup oil

•4 whites eggs (save the yolks for tomorrows recipe)

•6 drops of pink food coloring

Frosting:

•1 cup butter, softened

•1 cup shortening

•1/2 cup frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed

•2 tablespoons milk

•2 teaspoons vanilla

•Zest from 1 lemon

•2 pound package or 7 1/2 cups confectioners sugar

•3 drops of pink food coloring

Decorations:

•24 lemon slice candies or grapefruit slice candies

•12 colored flexible drinking straws

1.In a large bowl, whisk cake mix, pudding mix, and drink mix together. Add sour cream, lemon zest, water, oil, and egg whites to the dry mix. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed for about two minutes. Use a strong mixer, this batter is thick.

2.Scoop batter into 24 lined muffin tins. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes until cupcakes don’t look wet and a toothpick inserted in one comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before frosting the cupcakes.

3.Prepare the frosting by creaming butter, shortening, and lemon zest together. Then add lemonade concentrate, milk and vanilla with a mixer. Beat until smooth. Then gradually add the sugar, mixing well until light and fluffy. Beat in the food coloring.

4.Pipe frosting onto the cupcakes. (You will have plenty to pile it on. I had over 1 cup leftover. Leftover frosting is good sandwiched between two graham crackers). Place a lemon candy wedge on top of each cupcakes. With the straws cut the top 1/3 of the straw off just below the flexible part. Discard the tops. Then cut the remaining straw pieces in half. Place one straw piece in each cupcake to resemble a drink.

Here are some fun Cake Pop Flower Pots I made for the Graduation BBQ dessert table.. I just used green Styrofoam in the bottom & some brown shred.. The Cake Pops had Mini Cupcake Liners under them to make them pop a little. I got the Pots at Michael's Crafts!

One Pot BLT Pasta

I found this delicious recipe on this site: everydaytastes It is now one of our favorite recipes ;)

12 slices of bacon, divided
4 cups chicken broth
2-14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes
1 medium onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
12 oz uncooked linguine pasta
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup loosely packed fresh parsley, chopped
4 oz cream cheese
1 oz Parmesan cheese, grated
Halved grape tomatoes

Slice the bacon cross wise into strips. Cook in a large skillet with high sides for 8-9 minutes, or until crisp. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels. Drain skillet, leaving 1 tbsp of bacon drippings in the skillet.

Place broth and diced tomatoes in a large bowl. Microwave, covered, on high for 6-8 minutes or until hot. Return skillet to heat and add onion and red pepper flakes. Saute for 2-3 minutes or until tender. Add garlic and cook for 10-20 seconds. Add broth mixture, pasta, salt and half of the cooked bacon. Simmer covered for 9-10 minutes or until pasta is almost cooked by still firm. Stir occasionally.

Remove skillet from heat and add cubed cream cheese, grape tomatoes and parsley, reserving 1 tbsp of parsley for garnish. Cover and let stand for 5 minutes or until pasta is tender and sauce is thickened. Serve with remaining bacon, grated Parmesan cheese and reserved parsley.

Bracelets for Craft Hope

While surfing the web for craft ideas I found a website called Craft Hope. Here is a little bit of what it's all about. (Taken from their website)

Craft Hope is a love inspired project designed to share handmade crafts with those who need them. It is our hope to combine our love for crafting and desire to help others into a project to make a difference around the world.

For Project 12, we are partnering with Orphan Outreach and sending them with a little love to take to Russia. This time we will be making bracelets for them to pass out to kids. Bracelets are a huge hit with kids of all ages — hemp bracelets or beaded bracelets. They are going on a trip in August and have asked us to collect bracelets for them.

So here are my 25 bracelets that I'm sending out! They are made from silicone bracelets & I wrapped them in fabric! Here's a tutorial on how to make these.. So if your looking for a service project check out Craft Hope and see how you to can get involved!!

New Apron!!

Do you ever have an Ahhh moment?? Well I've wanted to make an apron for a long long time.. I am not a great sewer & can barely sew a straight line.. I have a small Brother sewing machine that goes forward & backwards & Zigzag...I believe it was $59 dollars at Walmart on an after Thanksgiving Sale about 5 years ago. I bought the pattern for this over a years ago & was really intimidated to even try to make it.. Something about the patterns... There was alot of "Terms" on there that I was unsure of since I haven't sewed anything with a pattern since like 7th grade. Well I decided it was now or never. lol & I am soo proud that I now own my very own APRON & it's reversible so the other side is the cute green flowers! Definitely Easy!!! I will be making more!! I used Simplicity Pattern #2691

Felt Playhouse!!

Jaxtin's Playhouse is finished!!! I have to say this was the biggest project I have ever done & probley the funnest! I spent hours & hours researching ideas.. I wanted the playhouse to not only be fun but to teach jax different things too.. I didn't use any patterns just borrowed alot of ideas & kinda winged it ;) Total cost was about $50.00. I made the Playhouse to fit our counter height kitchen table. The table measures 56x56. I purchased about 9 yards of felt at Joann's & I have a ton of leftovers. I love how it turned out & the look on jaxtin's face was priceless!! Here is a list of the websites I found ideas on.. I hope I didn't leave any out.. If I did please email me & I will be sure to add you to the list. I will post some more pictures soon.

Jaxtin's Market..... Has a Apple Barrel that all the apples are velcro so they can be removed & moved to the tree. The tree has flowers that are also attached with velcro. I'm planning on making some lemons, Pears, Christmas lights, ect It also has a crate that holds vegetables.

The Bank.... Has an ATM with a slot & money that is velco. It also has a door and 2 topiary trees that have velcro.

The Gas Station.... has a gas pump that is removable so he can fill up his cozy coop car that is still an inside toy..lol it has removable tools & removable oil cans that are all attached with velcro & a window.

The Post Office... Has a big blue Mail box with a slot to the inside & our house numbers, a small mail box that he can put the letters through the inside and a mail bucket with 3 letters.

Homemade Granola Bars!

I found this recipe on allrecipes.com and I must say these are delicious! They are Chewy & Yummy. Only problem is they don't last long around here!

Ingredients

4 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup honey
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups miniature semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
1.Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease one 9x13 inch pan.
2.In a large mixing bowl combine the oats, flour, baking soda, vanilla, butter or margarine, honey and brown sugar. Stir in the 2 cups assorted chocolate chips, raisins, nuts etc.
3.Lightly press mixture into the prepared pan. Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 18 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 10 minutes then cut into bars. Let bars cool completely in pan before removing or serving.

I already had everything since my Mom bought him a case of Fish crackers then he decided he didn't like them anymore?? I'm sure he will change his mind again soon. Homemade Hot Pockets!!

I have been searching for a good Hot Pocket recipe for awhile & this has become one of our family favorites. Best thing is that you can freeze them & they are excellent for lunches or quick meals!! I found this recipe here at dazzledish.

2 pkg. yeast
1 cup warm water (110 degrees)
2 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar
6 cup flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp salt
3/4 tsp soda
slices of cheese
slices of ham

Mix yeast and warm water. Let sit for five minutes. If yeast does not bubble up throw it out and start over.

In a bowl combine the buttermilk, oil and sugar. Add yeast mixture.

In a large bowl sift together 2 cups flour, baking powder, salt and soda. Mix in remaining flour. Knead until smooth. Roll out a little thinner than biscuits. Cut with a large biscuit cutter. Add ham and cheese slices. Fold over and bake at 400 degrees until golden brown. (16-20 Min)

Freezing:
After the hot pockets have cooled, place in a freezer bag. To cook, remove from the freezer and place in the microwave for 1 minute at a time until heated through.

I made these adorable 2x4 Flower Pots from her blog. The nice thing is that they didn't cost me a dime ;) I had all the supplies layin around the house. I love it when things work out that way. She has the Cutest ideas for every holiday. I wish I has an ounce of her creativity.. While looking through some old Taste of Home cookbooks I ran across this Recipe for Shamrock Sundaes that look Delish ;)

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup half-and-half cream
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mint ice cream
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate

Directions
In a small saucepan, melt butter and chocolate over low heat. Add the sugar, cream and corn syrup; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil for 1 minute. Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla. Serve warm or cool over ice cream. Yield: about 1-2/3 cups chocolate sauce.

1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter
3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated white sugar
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups (260 grams) all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup (120 ml) sour cream or plain yogurt
1/2 cup (55 grams) toasted walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped
1 1/2 cups (195 grams) chopped fresh strawberries
Strawberry Bread: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and place the oven rack in the middle position. Butter and flour (or spray with a non stick vegetable/flour spray) the bottom and sides of an 8-cup loaf pan (9 x 5 x 3 inch) (23 x 13 x 8 cm).

Place the walnuts (or pecans) on a baking sheet and bake for about 8 minutes or until brown and fragrant. Remove from oven and let cool completely before chopping coarsely.

In the bowl of your electric mixer, or with a hand mixer, beat the butter until softened (about 1 minute). Add the sugar and continue to beat until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla extract. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. With the mixer on low, add the flour mixture (in three additions) and sour cream (in two additions) alternately, starting and ending with the flour. Mix only until combined. Gently fold in the chopped strawberries and walnuts.
Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and bake about one hour, or until the bread is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Place on a wire rack to cool and then remove the bread from the pan. Serve warm or at room temperature. This bread can be frozen.
.Makes 1 loaf.

Here are a few more Felt Crafts I made for St. Patricks Day. For the Clover Leaf I just used Cardboard for the back and glued on rosettes I made from felt. I made the Rosette balls the same way using a 2 1/2 in Styrofoam ball.

I found this recipe for Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits on Dukes and Duchess and my Dog's LOVE these.. I even made heart shape ones for Valentines.. I know pathetic ;)

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup oats

Blend wet ingredients together. Whisk dry ingredients together and blend into wet ingredients to form a ball of dough. Roll out (I rolled them to a 1/2-inch thickness) and cut. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Turn the oven off and allow biscuits to cool and harden. Store in airtight container.

I was awarded this Stylish Blogger award from Vickie at greeneyedgirlcrafts. She has such a cute blog with so many great ideas!! I am so flattered that it was passed along to me. Thanks Vickie for thinking of me. I did however have a hard time coming up with 7 Random things about me ;) Lame I know... I don't collect anything....I don't have a shopping obsession... ie, shoes, purses, clothes... Really all I do is take care of my Family & Craft ;) So here it goes... It's the best I could do....

1. I have been married to the most wonderful man for 18 yrs.. We have 3 awesome kids.. ages 18, 15 & 1! Yes I said 1. lol We adopted the sweetest little man last year in hopes that we could provide him a better life ;) and in fact He has provided a better life for us.. If the teens are grumpy he always puts them in a better mood. He's always making us laugh and has bonded our family even tighter..
2. My childhood nickname is "Tuffy" and alot of people still call me that. I received this cool name after I beat up a boy in elementary school (not to bad) and chucked him over the fence.. lol Yep I was a bad girl but I was standing up for my little brother & the kid deserved it lol.
3. I have the weirdest random dreams... Every night.. My most memorable one is.... I picked my nose & pulled out an orange goldfish.. lol Didn't you want to know that??
4. I hate to cook. For the first time in 18 years I have started cooking every night. I plan a menu & actually follow it very closely now. I can't believe how easy it is to grocery shop with a list and actually have enough food for the week & food for 7 meals.
5. I love to pick on my kids... I was always picked on growing up by my Dad & Grandpa so why wouldn't I hand that down to my sweet kids.. My motto in our house is.... "If it's funny your not in trouble."
6. I don't really like animals...except MY puppy;) But for some reason we have 2 Horses, 2 Goats, 2 Dogs, 3 Cats and a billion little fish that are multiplying like rabbits :) All outside animals except MY puppy & of course the fish..
7. When I started this blog I didn't give anyone my blog address.. In fact it was about a year after I started it that I gave anyone the link. I didn't think anyone would actually read it.. Now I have alot of great blogger friends & love seeing all the awesome projects everyone posts!!

Hamburger Casserole

This is a recipe we had alot as kids.. We lived in a duplex. My Family lived upstairs and my my Sweet Grandparents lived downstairs. This provided great opportunities for us as kids. One of them was we got to choose who we wanted to eat with ;) Us kids would often see what Grandma was cookin then see what Mom was cookin. While my Mom is the best cook ever.. I could never pass up Grandmas Hamburger Casserole.

Ingredients:
1 bag Tator Tots
2 Cans Cream of Mushroom Soup
Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 box Wagon Wheel Pasta
1 LB. Hamburger
1 can cut green beans
1 cup Milk (enough to make creamy)

Directions:
Cook Hamburger & Drain well. Cook Pasta & Drain. in a 9x13 casserole dish mix soup with milk, then add hamburger, pasta, beans & 1/2 cup cheese & mix well. Add another 1/2 cup cheese to top. Then add Tatottots on top & cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes or until the tator tots are cooked.

So a couple of months ago I decided to be a little more organized and start planning a Menu every week. I have always struggled in the cooking department and it seemed like we were always eating the same stuff over and over. I am also going to cook atleast 1 new recipe a week and I am putting together a recipe binder to keep everything together. Rhodes Rolls Rock!

I got this recipe for these Buttery Breadsticks from Rhodes website and they are seriously the best breadsticks. Everyone knows that I'm not the best chef, so I am always trying to find ways to make delicious meals that I can't even mess up. These were such a good addition to the Homemade Pizza I made.

Ingredients

24 Rhodes™ Dinner Rolls, thawed but still cold
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
garlic salt

Instructions

Roll each roll into a 6-inch rope. Place butter and cheese in shallow bowls. Dip each rope into butter and then into Parmesan cheese. Place breadsticks on an 11x17-inch sprayed baking sheet in 2 rows of twelve each. Sprinkle with garlic salt, if desired. Cover with plastic wrap.

Here's some XOXO's I made out of a cedar post I had my husband cut into these squares a few years back for another project that I never got to.. I'm glad I finally made something with them ;) The X & O's are just 1/4 inch MDF wood.. I do have a tip... If you paint anything that is cedar it is a must to primer the wood first.. Yup I learned this the hard way ;)

Chicken & Rice Burritos/Tacos

I got this recipe for Chicken & Rice Burritos/Tacos from sistersstuff and changed it up a little to feed our family and to have leftovers for lunch ;). This recipe is really a must try!! It is way easy and makes a bunch.

14 chicken tenders
1 Jar Salsa (I used the 24 oz Great Value from Walmart)
2 Can Cream of Chicken Soup
2 C. Minute Rice

Put chicken in crock pot. Combine salsa and cream of chicken soup. Pour mixture over the chicken. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours. 15 minutes before serving stir in rice. Place mixture in warm tortillas with cheese and any other topping you like.

Rosette Felt Flower Heart

Felt Rosette Flower Heart

Here is my sad attempt of a tutorial for my Flower Rosette Heart... First I cut out 144 circles that were approx 2.5 inches in size. Then I made 24 Rosette flowers by folding 4 felt circles in half then add a dab of glue, then glue them to a flat circle. Then fold 1 more circle in half then half again & glue it strait side up in the center. Clear as mud'? I couldn't get a clear pic of these steps as my Camera doesn't seem to want to take any close up pics??? Next I cut a big heart out of a piece of cardboard & covered the edges with a long strip of felt. Then glued the Rosettes to the heart & added a Ribbon Hanger. That's it! I LOVE how this turned out!!

Supplies Needed

1/2 Yard Red Felt (I got mine from Joanns)

Glue Gun & Glue Sticks

1 Piece of Cardboard

Rosette Flowers

I have seen these Flower Rosette Balls all over the Internet... So I'm not sure who to give the credit for this ingenious idea. I just love how these turned out. I decided to do them a little different & glue together the felt rosettes first, then glue them to the Styrofoam balls. They look like a big flower instead of perfect balls.. They are so pretty in person..

Apple Dumplings

Apple Dumplings from ourbestbites

O.K. these are the most delicious Apple Dumplings.... Ever..Well these are the only ones I've ever had but they are Yummy!

2 medium Granny Smith apples
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
cinnamon (for sprinkling)
12 oz. (1 can) Mountain Dew or Sprite.

1-Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9x13 pan with non-stick cooking spray. Peel apples and cut into 8ths.

2-Open a can of crescent roll dough and carefully separate the dough along the perforations. Place 1/8 of an apple on one segment of dough and then roll/wrap the apple in the dough. Place in the prepared pan and repeat with remaining apples and dough. Set aside

3-In a medium saucepan, melt butter and add sugar and vanilla. Stir to combine. Pour butter/sugar mixture over the apples, then pour the can of Mountain Dew (or Sprite, although I've never actually tried it), on top of everything. Sprinkle the pan with cinnamon and bake for 40 minutes.

4-When the dumplings are done, remove from oven and serve with a ladle-ful of sauce. plan on two dumplings per person, before they go back for seconds. And then breakfast. Then second breakfast. Then a little snack. For true transcendent awesomeness, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream

l've been trying a bunch of different recipes lately.. I told my Husband I would make him dessert every Sunday. Any dessert he wanted.. He chose Peach Cobbler this week. I found this recipe from Big Red Kitchen

Miss Jean's Peach Cobbler

4 cups fresh peaches sliced* or 29 ounce can sliced peaches in heavy syrup

1 1/2 cups self-rising flour**

1 1/2 cups milk

1 cup sugar

1 stick butter, melted

* if using fresh fruit, add extra sugar to the fruit, about 1/2 cup

** if using plain flour, add: 2 tsp. baking powder and 1/4 tsp. salt to the flour.

In a 9x13 inch dish pour melted butter. Mix flour, milk, and sugar to make a smooth batter. Pour batter over melted butter. Put fruit on top, syrup and all. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Let set 10 minutes before serving. Serves about 10.

Lace Necklaces

I just had to show off this cool Lace Bib Necklace my daughter made. She made 3 seperate lace flowers and glued a chain to the back covered in felt. Then she added a bunch of pearls in different colors to spruce it up a bit.

Crochet Hair Flowers

Isn't She BEAUTIFUL!! My sweet 18 year old girl.. I can't believe I'm that old!! Anyway onto the craft... My daughter bought this cute crochet hair flower.. I thought it needed a little bling so we added the turquoise piece to the middle and BAM it is so darn cute!! Now if only I knew how to crochet.. O.k. I did crochet a few blankets many years ago but they seriously took me like 5 years to finish & I just don't have the patience for it.. Well my pancake attempt was a big FAIL. My husband thought it was a pot pie. lol So I set off to find something else to make for Jax's kitchen. While blog surfing for more felt food ideas I came across this tutorial for this darling chicken dinner.. with a baked potato and broccoli. I was afraid it would be to technical for my amateur sewing abilities but I was wrong. Sweet little Gift

Patchwork Receiving Blanket

I decided since I had some leftover material from a rag quilt I made, I would whip up this lightweight receiving blanket. This took about 1 hr to complete.
Here are the supplies I used.
42 6x6 Squares
1 yard of coordinating baby flannel
Thread
I sewed 7 rows of 6 squares together, ironing seams open after each row. Then cut a piece of flannel to match. Sewed right sides together leaving an opening to turn. Turn inside out & iron. Sew a zigzag stitch all around the edge and your done!! Won't this make a sweet little gift???

Beaded Fabric Necklace

I watched a show on Studio 5 that had these fabulous Beaded Fabric Necklaces & I knew I had to make some! I wanted this one to be a little longer so instead of knotting in between each bead I used black mini hair rubber bands. Felt Food

My First attempt at Felt Food

I was really surprised how hard it is to find play food to buy. Our little one had Christmas Money to spend and he got himself his very own kitchen. There was not one set of food or pans to be found at the store anywhere?? So his GG (Great Grandma) set him up with tons of dishes & Pots & Pans, even a mini rolling pin. I got looking on the Internet and discovered Felt Food. I was in love ;) So here is my first attempt, Bacon & an Egg. I was surprised how easy they were to whip up. I just cut out my own shapes and It only took about five minutes to make them. They fit perfectly into his little frying pan...I'm thinking Pancakes next??

Banana Crumb Muffins

I made these delicious muffins from allrecipes Defiantly in my favorites!! Yummy!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

3 bananas, mashed

3/4 cup white sugar 1 egg, lightly beaten

1/3 cup butter, melted

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon butter

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease 10 muffin cups, or line with muffin papers.

2. In a large bowl, mix together 1 1/2 cups flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, beat together bananas, sugar, egg and melted butter. Stir the banana mixture into the flour mixture just until moistened. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups.

3. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and cinnamon. Cut in 1 tablespoon butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Sprinkle topping over muffins.

4. Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of a muffin comes out clean.

Easy Baby Gifts

Easy to make Baby gifts!!

Awhile back I seen some rag burp cloths on homemadebyjill & thought they would be great Baby gifts to keep on hand. She has a great tutorial that is easy to follow. All I did was found a burp cloth shape I liked & used it as a pattern Cut 2 pieces of baby flannel & 1 warm and natural batting. Stack right sides together & sew about a 1/4 inch all the way around. Then sew a straight line through the middle to hold the batting in place. Then cut the exposed batting close to the seam and discard. Cut little snips all around the edge of the flannel and wash to get the rag effect. Then I found a bib and used it for a pattern. I just used 2 pieces of baby flannel and sewed them with the right sides together leaving a few inches to turn. Then I sewed all around the edge & added a small snap to the top! Pair these two together & they'd make a great little gift!

Baked Potato Bag

Awhile back I bought this cute cow print bake potato bag! I have heard potato's turn out fluffy & perfect in these bags! I wanted to make a few for little gifts so I just used the one I bought as a pattern and they are super easy to make and great to use up some fabric scraps too. Just give with a 10lb bag of potatoes and your set. I thought these would make cute neighbor gifts for next year. I had to laugh.. My teenage son asked me to make his "Friend" at school a pair of earrings for Christmas. He specifically asked for pink as that is her favorite color. So I got out my growing stash of beads and got to work. I figured she needed a matching bracelet too. He was so thrilled to take this to school for her. It made his whole day that she wore it the next day ;)

Isn't He just Sweet?? At my family Christmas party I fell in love with this cute little guy.. lol I am such a sucker for Snowmen!! Oatmeal Carmelitas

I found this delicious recipe on twelvecraftstillchristmas blog. They were so good that I won't be making these ever again.. lol I do have 1 tip tho.. I would make them a day ahead of time. Everyone thought they were better the next day after they had set up.

Oatmeal Carmelitas
Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/4 cup quick cooking oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup melted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup caramel ice cream topping
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray one 8x8 inch square pan with cooking spray.
2. Combine the 1 cup flour, baking soda, oats, brown sugar, salt and melted butter. Mix to combine, mixture will be very crumbly. Press firmly half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
4. Let cool slightly then sprinkle over the crust the chocolate chips.
5. Mix the caramel ice cream topping with the 3 tablespoons of flour and drizzle over the chocolate chips.
6. Top with the remaining oatmeal mixture.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Let bars cool a bit before cutting so that the melted chocolate will harden a bit.

Cinnamon Bowl Fillers

Bowl Fillers or Ornaments

Need something to Smell up your House? Well these are for you. I have these sitting on my kitchen table and every time I walk in the kitchen I smell them..

Cinnamon Applesauce Bowl Fillers:

Ingredients:
1 cup applesauce
1 cup cinnamon

Mix in a large bowl and stir until well blended. Work mixture in hands for several minutes to form a ball. If the mixture is to dry you can add more applesauce. If it’s too wet you can add a more cinnamon.

Knead ball on cinnamon sprinkled surface until it holds together well. Then, roll out using a rolling pin sprinkled with cinnamon. You can use your favorite cookie cutters, or templates that you’ve drawn yourself to cut out your shapes. As you can see by the picture, for this batch, I chose to use a template of some little primitive stars for our shapes. I like the ornaments to be a little bit thick. This helps keep them from breaking over the years.

Place ornaments on a cookie sheet that has been sprinkled with cinnamon. Use a drinking straw to cut out the little circle that you will use to hang your ornament.

Air dry for 24 to 48 hours – turning several times. You can also place the cookie sheet in a very low oven (around 200 degrees), which will help them dry much faster. Remember to turn several times.

Primitive Snowman Pop Ornaments

I seen some of these Snowman Pop Ornaments a few years back at a craft fair & I thought they were so cute that I had to make some for my snowman Tree. These would also look great in a gift basket or tied to a poem with some Snowman Soup.

Supplies needed:

Batting (Just scraps will do)
Coffee or Tea

Orange felt or embroidery floss

Black Embroidery floss

Stuffing

Small Black seed beads

Ribbon

Blush
Popsicle stick
Hot Glue

Instructions:
1- Coffee or Tea Stain Batting
2- Cut 2 circles the size you want (I used a drinking glass)
3- Sew on beads for eyes and sew mouth
4- Cut and Glue on felt for nose (or you could use orange embroidery floss and make your own)
5- Sew right sides together of circles leaving an opening at the bottom and Turn and stuff with batting
6- Put Popsicle stick in bottom and hot glue shut. (Careful not to burn)
7- Blush Cheeks
8- Hot Glue on Ribbon Bow
9- Sew on embroidery floss hanger
10- Enjoy

Winter Blocks & My new Table Runner

I bought Christmas fabric last year and I was determined I was going to make Christmas Stockings with it... Well that didn't happen so I decided I would make a Table Runner instead.. I found a Tutorial at diary of a quilter that was super easy to follow and I am happy to report that I did the binding (just don't enlarge the picture) and cut the fabric on the bias.. Thanks to many youtube videos lol.

Salt Dough Ornaments

How fun are these?? My family had a great time making these Salt Dough Ornaments.. They are quite easy too.. My kind of crafting!

RECIPE
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Directions:

1. Mix salt and flour.
2. Add in half the water, then gradually add the remaining water.
3. Knead until the dough is smooth
4. Roll out the dough on baking paper or floured counter top
5. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters or design your own.

Bake at 250 for 1-1 1/2 hr Make sure you don't burn them.
Let cool completely & paint. On the Candy Canes my daughter used glitter glue & the snowmen we used acrylic paint then modge podged them & sprinkled glitter on them.

My Daughter turned 18 this week..She had a bunch of her girlfriends over for an Ice Cream Party, Karaoke & Movies. Everyone loved the Sundae Bar. We had tons of toppings & syrups to choose from. We also make Yummy Cupcakes, Cake Balls & Brownie Bites!!
Cake Balls
Bake any Cake, Let Cool, Crumble in bowl & stir in 1 can frosting. Roll in balls, Let set in fridge, Put a lollipop stick in each and dip in your favorite chocolate & decorate.
Brownie Bites
Bake Brownies, Let Cool. Frost with Chocolate frosting. Use a small ice cream scoop and scoop out into balls on cookie sheet & chill. Dip in your favorite chocolate & Enjoy!

Cupcake Toppers

I used the Stampin Up Batty for You set and the scalloped punch to make these Halloween cupcake toppers! The pumpkin muffins (sorry to lazy to make cupcakes) are made with 1 regular size can of pumpkin, 1 spice cake mix and a cup of chocolate chips, then bake per directions on cake mix box. Yum!

Witches Broom Stick!!

I made this Witches Broom Stick for my Daughter to give to her Best Friend for Halloween. We filled it with Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Give witches-for-a-night a proper send-off with broomstick favors. You need two lunch-size paper bags for each broomstick. Unfold one bag, and push out its base while folding in the left and right sides. Using scissors, cut the bag into thin strips, stopping short of the base. Cut thin strips into the top inch of the second bag. Open both bags, and place the second bag inside the shredded one; fill with candy. Insert a small branch 1 inch into the bag; cinch the tops of both bags, and secure with black twine.

Baked Cheesy Chicken Penne

I found this recipe over at realmomkitchen.com & it is Yummy! We didn't use the sun-dried tomatoes and just used fresh tomatoes..

•6 tablespoons butter, plus more for baking dishes

•kosher salt and black pepper

•1 pound penne rigate (I used a 14.5 oz box of Ronzoni Smart Taste Penne Rigate)

•1 teaspoon olive oil

•2 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves (about 8 ounces each), halved horizontally (I used some leftover cooked chicken)

•1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour

•6 garlic cloves, finely minced

•6 cups whole milk

•10 ounces white or cremini mushrooms, trimmed and thinly sliced (I used 8 oz of button mushrooms)

•1 cup sliced oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained

•1 1/2 cups shredded provolone (6 ounces) (I used an italian blend that had provolone in it)
•1 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan (about 6 ounces)
1.Preheat oven to 400. Butter two shallow 2-quart baking dishes. If you’re going to freeze one, use a disposable foil pan. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta 3 minutes short of al dente; drain pasta and set aside.

2.While pasta is boiling, heat oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Season chicken with salt and pepper; cook until opaque throughout, 3 to 5 minutes per side. Halve each piece lengthwise, then thinly slice crosswise. While chicken pan is still hot, toss the mushrooms in and saute until golden brown (3-4 minutes). Use a little extra olive oil if needed.(Since I used left over chicken, I just cooked the mushrooms in the olive oil)

3.In a 5-quart Dutch oven or heavy pot , melt butter over medium. Add flour and garlic; cook, whisking, 1 minute. While whisking constantly, gradually add milk; bring to a simmer. Keep whisking frequently as sauce thickens, about 1 minute more. Add mushrooms and tomatoes; cook 1 minute. Take the pan off the heat and and gradually stir in provolone and 1/2 cup Parmesan.

4.Add chicken and pasta to pot; season with salt and pepper to taste. Divide pasta mixture between baking dishes. If freezing, place remaining parmesan cheese in a zip-top baggie. If cooking, sprinkle on top.

5.Bake, uncovered, until top is golden and bubbling, about 25 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Freezer instructions:

To freeze, prepare through step 4 and then let pasta cool. Cover pan well with plastic wrap. Place extra cheese in baggie (for topping) on top and then cover entire pan well with foil. Freeze for up to 3 months. To bake, preheat oven to 400. Remove foil and plastic from pan and set cheese baggie aside. Place foil back on pan and bake for about 1 1/2 hours. Remove foil, stir pasta, and top with cheese. Return pan to oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes (I only did 10 minutes) or until mixture is hot and bubbly throughout.

These Pumpkin Pancakes tasted great! We definitely will make these again. I found this recipe on the Martha Stewart website.

For a spiced breakfast treat, whisk 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour; 2 tablespoons sugar; 2 teaspoons baking powder; 1/2 teaspoon each cinnamon, ground ginger, and salt; 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg; and a pinch of ground cloves. In a separate bowl, stir together 1 cup milk, 6 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 1 egg; fold mixture into dry ingredients. Melt some butter in a skillet over medium heat; pour in 1/4 cup batter for each pancake. Cook pancakes about 3 minutes per side; serve with butter and syrup. Makes 8 to 10.
